Euro Deposits & Final Payment
When purchasing a property in France, investors transfer a deposit (earnest money) to the "Notaire's" account when signing the "compromis de vente" which formalises their intent to purchase. This amount is typically 10% of the purchase price and is held in an escrow account by the Notaire until the final transaction is signed. When the deposit or "depot de garantie" payment is due, clients of OFX benefit from spot transfers which are an extremely competitive alternative to the banks, most of which incur no transfer fee. If the target currency is at an advantageous rate, clients can also fix the remainder of their purchase with a Forward Transfer Contract, allowing them to reserve the rate for an execution date of up to 1 year in the future.
Regular Euro Payments
Once you have taken the keys to your new property in France you may need to top up your bank account or arrange regular payments to cover bills or a mortgage. OFX offer a number of solutions which allow clients to make regular ongoing payments. Clients can either opt to fix a regular amount on a bi-weekly, monthly or quarterly basis ensuring any recurring payments are covered and the rate remains extremely competitive. Alternatively clients can also opt for the flexibility of variable regular payments meaning you can benefit from great exchange rates without having to fix.
